The Sauna

For old Estonians, the sauna was much more than just a place for washing. It was one of the most important places in the household — a peaceful space for cleansing, healing, resting and spending time together.

In Saaremaa traditions especially, the wood-heated sauna has always been connected with slow living and closeness to nature. After a hot sauna, people would cool down in fresh air, listen to the sounds of the countryside and enjoy long conversations late into the evening.

During summer, we heat the sauna almost every evening and all guests are warmly welcome to enjoy it free of charge. If the sauna is booked together with the hot tub, washing takes place in the Shower with the View instead.

If possible, we also offer a traditional wood-heated hot tub. As filling and heating it takes almost a full day, we kindly ask guests to book it at least a couple of days in advance. Availability depends on the season and our schedule, and an additional fee applies.
